In 2004 GIMEMA reorganised the way it addresses problems of research. The Working Parties (WP) are established, dedicated to specific diseases. The WP are scientifically independent groups that work according to the procedures that the Foundation follows for conducting clinical trials.
The Working Parties (WP) are 10 working groups organised according to the type of haematological disease, the real «scientific core» of GIMEMA. The key Italian experts in each sector regularly meet to discuss their scientific opinions. The activities that the WP have in common include updating and proposing new therapeutic strategies, assessing the use of new medicines and creating new forms of collaboration with cooperative groups in Europe and the rest of the world.
