An important aspect of the Foundation’s work centres is the communication.
The communications department disseminates the latest developments in haematology research, safeguards the Foundation’s image, takes care of training courses and fundraising, promotes communication campaigns and handles media relations.
The Foundation communicates the results of the research promoted by the Group and the most recent developments in haematological research at an international level.
The communication department safeguards the Foundation’s image, updates its website and provides information on the Foundation’s purpose and its research, training and fund-raising activities to the outside world. It also promotes communication campaigns and handles media relations.
The communication activities enables the Foundation to share the results of the research with the scientific community and the public at large and promote awareness of health issues and haematological medical research. The GIMEMA Foundation’s efforts aim to reach as broad a public as possible and raise awareness of the major steps forward achieved in the fight against blood diseases and improvements in the quality of life of patients.
GIMEMA Informazione
GIMEMA Informazione is the Foundation’s news channel.
It focuses on disseminating the latest news on haematological sector such as: promoting knowledge of the mechanisms behind haematological diseases; the effectiveness of treatments and the development and availability of new therapies; the evolution of diagnostic tools; updates on studies centred around patients’ quality of life.
The news desk is run by a team of journalists and science communicators who draft and publish high quality articles on a regular basis, with a view to keeping the community of Italian haematologists and researchers and the public at large up to date.
Newsletter
“Haematology journal review” (Rassegna stampa ematologica) is the GIMEMA Foundation’s weekly newsletter that provides an overview of the most relevant scientific publications published on the main international magazines each week, a useful updating tool for haematologists, researchers and patients.
The newsletter is prepared by Professor Anna Maria Testi, a paediatric haematologist and one of the top experts in the sector who has been working on blood diseases for the last forty years both in Italy and abroad.
Social media
The GIMEMA Foundation also communicates and shares its content on social media and especially on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and YouTube. By communicating on social media, the Foundation can reach out to a broader audience and interact with it in a more direct way.
Press office
The press office handles relations with the media and coordinates engagement between journalists and the Foundation’s experts. It promotes the communication of the results of clinical trials and research projects managed by GIMEMA by disseminating and distributing a series of press releases.
Additional communication activities
The communication department is also involved in the creation and distribution of editorial and video content and communication campaigns to promote, inform and raise public awareness of the Foundation and its many activities which include the organisation of meetings, conferences, events, training courses and fund raising.
It is responsible for all communication activities related to the individual research projects promoted by the Foundation.
It coordinates the Foundation’s engagement with external collaborators (journalists, video-makers, webmasters, etc.).
